The top ones are in that 1 to 1.75 range if my memory serves me correctly. I would say it the most surefire way to a top shelf P5 program. Say you bring a top 5 defense to the table for 3-4 years straight, with his personality, and the past record of being a highly successful head coach. Right now he is 50 years old. A lot of things could line up pretty quickly for him with the right moves.

Clemson's DC, I'd assume that's the high end.
"Defensive coordinator Brent Venables earned a raise of $275,000, bringing his salary to $1.7 million next season. Venables’ deal was extended a year through 2020."
"Co-offensive coordinators Tony Elliott and Jeff Scott received raises of $175,000, bringing their salaries to $800,000."
Venables will make 2 million in 2018 with the raise approved by Clemson's Board of Trustees this past February.
