We all live in stories... It seems to me that a definition of any living vibrant society is that you constantly question those stories... The argument itself is freedom. It's not that you come to a conclusion about it. Through that argument you change your mind sometimes... That's how societies grow. When you can't retell for yourself the stories of your life then you live in a prison... Somebody else controls the story. - S. Rushdie

Honestly, I don't want a dramatically more representative government. I want the government to uphold the Constitution. Too much representation leads to mob rule, and sometimes the mob is fucking stupid. I like the system of being a Republic with democratic elections.
My biggest issue in lack of representation is the limited 2 party system. Both parties suck giant dick and they make decisions based on the party, and rarely go outside it.

You can keep federalism and the filibuster. For example give each state one senator and 2 reps guaranteed instead of the other way around and keep the sizes of the senate and house the same. 50 senators would then represent about 38% of the population and 40 (filibuster) about 28 percent.
70 percent still may not be able to get the legislation they want. And you’ve still got all the checks and balances between the houses (where membership in the house would be less representative than it is today), branches and the constitution and the bill of rights etc.
If you’re pissed about the two party system (and you should be) then I’d suggest supporting initiatives like ranked choice voting, open primaries, and campaign finance reform.
