It's been fun wasting my time here, and having some laughs at the more humorous aspects of this issue, but I'm not going to spend any more time arguing HR or politics. See you all next Wednesday. Or late Tuesday night.

I did read it. I don't care about Port's spin. The "you didn't hear it from me" comment from SUU was dumb but also indicative that he was sharing info improperly. It's also clear that Douple knew he shouldn't have been asking.

You're defending Douple real hard. I'm simply supporting Bresciani. He's the one who felt strongly enough to comment. There's something there. NDSU took some heat and didn't like the way it happened.

To be considered an alumnus you need not have graduated but merely attended a particular school.

Rob Port? He's all NDSU's ... along with Al Carlson.

And in point of fact, I'd be willing to bet every one on this board has done something similar at some point in their life (broke a HR rule, while telling themselves that they were following the 'spirit' of the rule).
Zooper, you are looking at the wrong end of the horse. Poor communications is given as the biggest reason for failure in projects and programs. Running a conference on behalf of multiple universities is a program. If Douple is not sitting down (or using technology to do so) with each of his sponsors, he is not doing his job. Focusing on preconceptions gives exactly what you are finding from your end of the pony.

You don't have to rub it in, Sic. Give us credit for flunking the big fellow out at least.

If the concern is about NDSU's relationship with the Conference office. I don't think we know anywhere near enough to answer that question. All we've got is one issue raised on one performance evaluation, that whether you disagree with his approach or not, the Conference Administrator took prompt action to resolve. The fact that the guy gathering the data initially assumed that the source of the concern was someone other than NDSU indicates to me that there weren't any issues on the table between NDSU and the Conference prior to the performance evaluation in question. And we have no information from anytime after the evaluation that would indicate one way or the other if things had gotten better or worse. We simply don't know.

It's not that you come to a conclusion about it. Through that argument you change your mind sometimes... That's how societies grow. When you can't retell for yourself the stories of your life then you live in a prison... Somebody else controls the story. - S. Rushdie

Good answer, but you missed teh point. My point simply states that any one who is responsible for a conference should not assume that all of the sponsors (in this case the presidents) or other audiences 'know'. The lead needs to have scheduled one on one discussions with these sponsors and a communication plan for the other audiences in order to get the job done.

I disagreed with the implication stating it would be a waste of time to follow up with all of the presidents.
