The reason some are grandfathered in is because they've been there for 40 years straight, regardless of how good the team is or is not. It's tough to force a fan like that out. From what I understand they are gradually evening things out.

So I know someone that sits in great seats. $800 a year, two seats to football and basket. Had seats for 25 years. Spends $20k over lifetime.

Guy next to him, $2,500 a year per seat.

Like I said, doesn't impact me one bit. I lost think it silly on the lost opportunity. Its the program that is missing out on the opportunity, NDSU athletics in 3 years, 5 years when they aren't the cool kid on the block (it always happens, its a cycle) will sit back and wish, we banked a bit more coin. No different than ND right now. People bitch and moan about the 10-12 billion in the various rainy day funds, but be thankful they banked it when they had the chance.

students just coughed up $12 million for an aquatics center, they can afford the $1 million a year they give to NDSU athletics (NDSU athletics - basketball & football exposure will help them get jobs out in the real world!)
