I get that. Just cross off the idea of cutting a men's sport or two. NDSU will not be considering that.
Keep in mind when you use the word "match", it's not about the number of sports or even the number of scholarships. It's about resources devoted to programs ($$$$$$$$$). Some people mistakenly believe that only football is different with a move to FBS. Nothing could be further from the truth. Take the MWC for example. I'm quite sure that their coaching staffs for every sport are paid higher than what we are currently paying. Men's sports probably have the large dollar gaps (I'm guessing there).
If every program needs more money to compete and the gaps are greater for men's sports, the Title IX affect is rather drastic.
Well said. The only part I disagree on is the Mountain West being the only conference. Obviously like you said the Big Ten or 12 won't have us. Since we're literally the center of the country we can go either way. (**twss**) Personally I think the MAC makes sense from a geographic standpoint. It's more of a midwest footprint and we already play teams in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. We're talking snow climates too. Something about California, Nevada, and New Mexico that seems way out of place. Reminds me too much of UN_ and the Big Sky.
Other sports the MVC is the no brainer. I'm starting to wonder if the Horizon is that much better than the Summit now we have ORU. Same number of teams and if UN_ would return we would be very stable. Then again if anyone steals a Horizon team, the first place they will likely look is the Summit. Given all the major issues with stability I think the MAC makes the most sense with 12 teams

I heard on the radio the gophers sold 3400 tickets to their bowl game.
I don't care how the vote ended up. They still suck and always will.

How well are the men's track teams funded?
IIRC, both the track teams and cross country need to be funded to at least 80% of the max allowed or they don't count as separate sports. If they aren't counted as separate sports, NDSU would not be at the 16 required sports for FBS.

I have largely stayed out of this FBS discussion. But after watching Fresno State, co-MWC champion, play in the Las Vegas Bowl and get pounded by USC, and now watching a shitty Poinsettia Bowl with Northern Illinois and the other MWC co-champion Utah State play lousy football in a lousy bowl I keep asking myself "why?". Of course, the spectacular Poinstettia Bowl followed the Little Ceasars Bowl with the MAC champion Bowling Green losing to an utterly and ridicuously bad Pitt. There was a sparse crowd in the Ceasars Bowl and an even smaller crowd in the Poinsettia Bowl, so obviously FBS fans are not flocking to these games.
So, tell me in all honesty what the attraction is for you all FBS proponents in having the Bison play in these shitty conferences with the sole goal of playing in these even shittier bowls. I'm serious. Tell me what attacts you to having the Bison play in conferences such as these. I truly want to know, because the whole logic and rationale thought process as to why this is where NDSU needs to be in the whole scheme of college football is escaping me. I don't understand you, so explain it to me.
Thanks.
