(Not give you a bad time Ca. After experiencing the Big 9 for a couple of decades, it was an eye opener to actually understand that Albert Lea was once considered a power)

I understand...and they supplied another tier of players to Concordia, St. Olaf, Minnesota, and other DI programs...from the same team. Something like 12 DI players came from one of their championship teams. I was roommates with two Albert Lea guys early in college. I never heard the end of it.

Tame/lame.... in the '64-68 era, we had a chant that you couldn't even begin to say today.... (this may get me in trouble - but history is pretty raw some times).... When the opposing players were announced, the crowd, standing, shouted a welcome that went some thing like: "sh*t, f*ck, c*ck su*k, nibble, gobble, chew. We are the mighty Bison. Who the *ell are you?" Not embarrassing then, but now.... yeah, probably over the top. And then the real partying started that made those outdoor winds and temperatures bareable for 4 quarters.

LMAO! And the next week or next home game they had a big blow up bottle. Like a beach ball, but some type of liquor bottle. They were tossing it up against the press box. Big Eddy became a Sioux Fan shortly thereafter.

Yeah...that's when UND had a #1 ranked football team with a Cichy (Shanley) and Mark Walker (Mayville) in the backfield. Gustafson was a great qb from Albert Lea, MN. They had an Albert Lea connection when Albert Lea was thee dominant program in MN.

I remember an old timer telling us about that game the week of homecoming one year and he said they had 15 sacks that game....
