Default 770 AM in the dome...

My wife brought a radio/headphones to the game on Saturday but we were unable to pickup 770 inside the dome. Did anyone else have trouble picking up the signal or should I caulk it up to the fact that we bought the cheapest hand-held radio that Fleet Farm had to offer?

I had no problems last year with the same radio I used the last two games. This year I can not pick up crap, it is terrible. During the 2nd halves of the last two games I did pick it up a little.

    The new lighting/wiring could be causing reception problems that were not there last year . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

That's that my wife reported. Had it coming in for a while, but sometime in the 1st quarter it went away completely.

Thanks for the confirmations...I hope they look into whatever is going on.

Could be the same deal with STFU's headsets.

Out of curiousity, I emailed the marketing the department with our question. Troy Goergen responded almost immediately with the following explanation...

"Thank you for the comments. During the NDSU vs. St. Francis football game, the radio transmitter/repeater inside the FARGODOME was causing interference with the St. Francis coaching staff's headsets. That is the reason that the official made the announcement that both coaching staffs were not able to use their headsets.

FARGODOME personnel responded immediately to the issue and traced the headset feedback problem to the radio signal being broadcast inside the FARGODOME. Those same personnel worked with KFGO radio engineers to try to correct the problem, but unfortunately a true source could not be detected. Because of that, the signal needed to be unplugged for this game to allow the use of sideline communication.

Personnel continue to investigate to find resolution. Fortunately, this issue of feedback/interference of the radio broadcast is not a problem that occurred during the game on September 3rd, nor was it a problem during the 2010 football season. We are optimistic the issue originated with the St. Francis equipment.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding as those with FARGODOME, KFGO and NDSU work through the technical aspects of this situation to find a resolution."

Kuddos to Troy for his quick and thorough explanation.
