I totally agree with you, I highly doubt Breske had full reins of the D. I'm sure he was doing it Bohl's way.

Breske came in late and left early. For what ever reason it didnt work.

Argue??? Naw just find it strange on how apologetic some have gotten since he left. Many were calling for his head considering the abysmal performance of the D last year. Then when hes gone the poor performance wasnt his fault????? He was the DC.
If he was a good fit he would still be coaching the Bison.
He was a last minute hire to fill a need at the time. IMO of course

I don't want to add more thread drift, but...

Commenting on how much controll Breske had over the defense, I'm under the impression it was a lot. Maybe I'm wrong.

After the season I think Bohl told Breske that he had to make some big changes, probably give up some power, let Bohl call more shots. Breske said he rather leave than be told what to do.

Just an internet theory of mine...likely wrong

Doubt it. Coach Bohl provides the framework and then lets his coaches do what they were hired for. I'll never forget the number of times Coach Bohl would look up at the pressbox in the FargoDome after another Defensive blunder. By the way, thats were Breske was!!

Yeah, I remember hearing in the preseason that Bohl even let Breske work on some 3-4 stuff. So lets not sit here and act like Bohl made Breske do things that didn't work.

That said, I do think a legit gripe for Breske is talent and injuries, I doubt even Monte Kiffen could have made what we had into something that was even average at best.

yeah he had a good track record but our players been told to do one thing since they've been here then Breske came in and tried adding stuff and doing some things different. They hadn't been told to do a 3-4 D from what I can remember well that last scrimmage they had I didn't know it wasn't open to the public until I was a few blocks away and talked to someone on the phone and asked if they were going and he told me that it was closed to the public, media, etc. Well being I had already made the trip there to watch I got there and watched for about 2 hrs until someone came to my car and leave, well I saw them working on a 3-4 Defense that day. So, I know Breske was trying different things on top of our other stuff I'd assume and what I saw from our D was a very confused D and players uncertain for where they should be and weren't always in the right places.

wasn't Breske known for a 3-4 defense??? its not a secret that thats what he used and WON with so Bohl knew what he would bring to the table! I doubt any of us will know the exact reason why he left so soon, and it doesn't really matter.
