I disagree that the SD media has turned NDSU into the bad guy, don't generalize SD media with SF media. They aren't representative of all of us.

Well I disagree with you. SD Media, the SD university fans here, and the public in general have a dislike for ND and NDSU. Much of it has to do with the a$$ kicking the SD university teams continually received on the football field from NDSU and later UND. The people here also like to poke fun at ND in many ways and its is kind of funny cause it is often like the pot calling the kettle black.

So, I know Breske is hated pretty well on this board, but he told me from day one that he wanted NDSU to change the way they recruited and that it was an easy sell to Bohl. So, I am convinced that this new approach was Breske's idea, not Bohl's. I don't think the appearance of Breske and the change in recruiting from one year to the next is a coincidence.

I am not surprised that Breske played a role in revamping our recruiting strategy. I do think it is always a little tricky to attribute a big idea to one individual in a group.

Now, can someone explain why our defense appeared to be so disorganized and passive last season?

I know I am going to catch a lot of hell for telling you all this, but I feel some strange need to do so.

When my buddy Mike Breske got to NDSU we had lunch several weeks in a row while he got accilmated since his family was still back in Laramie. He told me that before spring ball he sat down with Bohl and suggested to him that NDSU change how they were recruiting. Breske said (as close a quote as I can remember) "I told Craig we need to recruit like the big boys in BCS do it", which meant getting more kids in the camps and getting early verbals.

Breske told me Bohl had been thinking along the same lines but hadn't really formalized in his mind how it might be done, but readily agreed they needed to change things up.

But that has nothing to do with the idea thing of which you admitted that it was something Bohl had been thinking about.

I don't think Breske is hated. Now, let's see how we do this fall. If things stay the same, it is all on Bohl. If they get better, Breske may have been partially at fault for the defense. Now, special teams were all Babich's fault.*

Agreed. I also think the most interesting, and generally overlooked, fact between Bohl and Breske, is Grant Olson's comments about them. He straight up said, "Bohl called me first to tell me they were letting Breske go...". It could be nothing, but it could tell us a lot about the situation as a whole...

I dont think he is hated either. The situation just wasnt right for him or the Bison. It happenes. You move on.

Situation not right? After one year? Seriously, that was too early to tell. Given his track record I find it very hard to believe he was the weak link. We will see next season. Just seems funny.
