He also thought his game at Minnesota would help attract MN high school talent.
That isn't all that odd really. Bohl had his best season in 2007, beating two FBS teams in going 10-1. Check out his 2008 class and tell me what you think of it.

It was a bad class, but he didn't have a problem of getting talent, instead it was keeping that talent around. What is the class down 6 or 7 kids already?

Maybe this is a time and effort thing? I think Bohl is working very, very hard to get the program back on track. I get the impression he wants to stay in Fargo since he's getting married and all.

Maybe Stig has gotten a little lazy hoping that the success would draw more interest. Just a thought...

Since Bisonville is so concerned about SDSU recruiting, (weird since just a few years ago Bison fans could care less about SDSU and were focused on bigger, better opponents) you can watch Coach Stig talk about how recruiting is going on GoJacks.com. It's the first segment of "The Jackrabbit Insider" which is one of the 5 rotating stories at GoJacks.

    To paraphrase:

It was a good season, it was great to get to playoffs but the goal is to get to Chattanooga.
The playoffs have made a huge, widespread impact with recruits, friends, & alumni. The impact has really paid off in recruiting. People want to play for a winner and even though we lost that game we are improving.
Coach Stig says recruiting has been going slow, but that's by design. They evaluate everything about a recruit and take an NFL approach by asking recruits alot of questions and get to know the players.
On paper they are behind but at their speed they are right on track. A couple big recruiting weeks in January and the recruiting will solidify.
Dykhouse center is completed and has been exciting for recruits to see. Talks about how people can sponser a players locker.

What happened in Yankton then? I don't think Bisonville is concerned, we have just listened to SDSU fans cast doubts about our early recruits and offer a ton of excuses as to why you have just a few verbals. Now I see a thread about recruiting concerns, it certainly sticks out. Especially when coaches rarely say negative things about recruiting.

Before everything was rainbows and sunshine, a playoff birth was your ticket to open more doors and make recruiting easier. Now...

He said it seems to have changed a bit. He is under the impression that a lot of kids are "jumping" at the first offer they get.

Did I interpret what one poster was saying, that NDSU has verbals from only 6-7 guys with DI talent?

    Could of fooled me.
Actually in 4 years this class probably will only have 6-7 guys with DI talent and I'd be fine with that. Your not going to have 20 guys all pan out and be the amazing talent we all hope they will be and hype them up to be. If about 1/3 of this class pans out as solid contributing players that would be good. Take 1/3 of last years class and 1/3 of next years class and you have a starting lineup that will be upperclassmen dominated with younger guys stepping up where needed. Now if this class is as good as some make it out to be and we have 20 NFL prospects coming in next year than we don't have to worry about last years class and the one after.

I'm not denying that Stig wasn't caught of guard by kids giving their verbals in September & October as that is not typically normal. As I've said a billion times here, it was a good move by Coach Bohl to change up the strategy and be very aggressive early on.

But this how Coach Stig has done it every year and for people to speculate that he is lazy or that he has just recently found these left over recruits I have to disagree.

The players coming in for visits in the next two weekends are recruits that the coaching staff has targeted for the past 4 months. They've already made in home visits to these players and have been analyzing their game film and talking with coaches and family. Many of these players have been told that they are very interested in them and that they will most likely see an offer once they come for a visit in January. The players who sign elsewhere earlier are saying, "thanks for the interest but I'd rather play elsewhere" while the recruits that are interested in SDSU will be verbaling in the next two weeks after their official visits.
That's the "slow design" Coach Stig talks about, they run most of their players through the ringer before they offer a verbal.

NDSU had a very good recruiting class this year, and I'm not taking anything away from them or there process. I'm just saying that I'd wait a couple weeks and than you can judge how SDSU has done.

    JacksFan,

You should know by now that any recruit who doesn't sign with NDSU is not worthy and more than likely doesn't know how to play football. Obviously Coach Bohl got ALL the regional talent and there is not one player left any where to be found who is any good at all. Even though SDSU has beaten NDSU 3 years in a row their coach has zero idea at recruiting and obviously sits around and waits for all the left over recruits to come to him. Its apparent by his record the last few years and direction the program is going in that he has no skill at evaluating talent and as a matter of fact he is probably sitting in Brookings right now waiting for the phone to ring and a commitment from anyone who the Bison turned away and is willing to play in Brookings. As are the coaches from UND, USD, UNI, Minnesota and any other school in the region.

Don't forget that he is lazy and has been resting on his laurels. This year will be his worst recruiting year ever [i](even though SDSU just went through their most successful season and is opening their brand new locker room/weight room facility next year.
