Of course, whoever SDSU gets they must all be studs waiting to get on the mighty Yakrabbit football program!
According to most fans around here all the recruits that the Bison sign are all studs waiting to get in on the mighty Bison Football Program!! Doesn't every coach or diehard fan of their respective school think their recruits are better then eveybody elses? Why else would they recruit/get excited about them.

I'm guessing SDSU will pick up a couple verbals before xmas. SDSU is hosting their first "official visits" this weekend and have 12 players coming in. Terry V reported that 1 kid is close to a verbal and that Coach Stig has spent the week in Kansas City and Minneapolis.
SDSU should have a smaller class than usual this year with only 11 scholarships on hand.
Thanks for the reply. My post was a serious question with a little jab at the Jacks. I know coaches approach things different. The least we can say is bohl and stig are at the opposite ends of the spectrum. Even though both extremes could be criticized, I would rather see my team do what bohl is doing rather than waiting and hoping a kid gos your way while almost every team is out there looking. Stig could get burned and end up with much less than he expected by waiting so long.

Moved Travis Beck from "suspected offer" to "Verbal".

    Welcome aboard!

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

What Stig has been doing at SDSU has worked for him/them.

What Bohl has been doing at NDSU hasn't worked for him/us. He had to try something different. I like what he did this year but looking at Stig's past results I can't argue with them.

Actually, this seems like a different approach for Stig. The fact is that he doesn't have a recruiting class at all yet so it's too early to say anything about it (although there is no way that you can say that not having any verbals this late is a good thing), but based on the concern from the South Dakota press, I'm thinking that NDSU's recruiting this year is a real worry down there. Now if we could only get a weepy column from the Grand Forks Herald, then we'll know that this class looks like gold. If the Bismarck Tribune chimes in, then I'll break out The Macallan 18yo for a celebratory dram.

Macallan's nice! I got a bottle of that and a bottle of Maker's Mark from my father-in-law as an early xmas present this year. i'll crack mine open too if the B-Trib speaks up, as well.

I agree about the concern by others but I personally don't see this as real late in recruiting. Its the first recruiting weekend this weekend where teams are going to have kids in for official visits. This is in the past has been the time where kids will verbal in their sit downs with the head coach. I think fans of other schools are concerned because they see we have double digit verbals and it looks impressive. I like it because its just earlier than normal but if I was another school and wasn't going to offer or didn't think any of the kids we signed where impressive enough to offer right away than I wouldn't be concerned and Stig hasn't sounded overly concerned about it.

Personally though I think next year he will be a little more aggressive with his recruiting. Really we don't know how his recruiting is going, thats the fun part of this time of year. If this year goes well for him than he won't have to change anything, if he feels he missed out on some kids than he will have to start offering earlier. You can bet the Sioux will start offering earlier next year (not that it will matter) but our aggressiveness this year had to have an effect on their recruiting board

Coach Stig has said in several interviews that us making the playoffs has opened doors to recruits that may not have given us much consideration in years past. Had we gotten a bunch of verbals earlier in the signing period we may have run out of scholarships and then not been able to take advantage of the Jacks strong season.

I don't think there is much worry down here about no early verbals. We've had good success in recent years in recruiting, and I don't expect that to change this year.

This isn't too out of the ordinary for SDSU. The past years we would only have around 3 verbals before xmas. Stig & company typically put their feelers out during the fall but do all the heavy lifting in the winter months after the season is over. Since they made the playoffs this year, they got started a week later than usual but I don't think anyone within the program is worried that they won't be getting quality recruits; actually it's probably the opposite.

The only people suffering is us SDSU fans who are desperate for some recruiting news to feed our football appetite. Bison fans are lucky that each week they've got to learn about a new kid entering the program. I guess we'll just have wait a little longer to find out what we're getting for xmas.

Quit egging the SDSU guys on in this thread. We don't need our recruiting thread full of garbage about Stig's recruiting.
