    Default 2010 Recruits

NDSU throwing their name in the hat for this monster recruit....and is receiving Bit Ten Interest.

LaCrosse (Wis.) Logan Junior offensive tackle prospect Matt Eggen (6-foot-5, 285 pounds) is currently considered to co-top prospect in Wisconsin from the Class of 2010 by WisconsinPreps.com.

While Spartans are close to offering regional DI-FCS power North Dakota State already has. "I spoke Coach Jake Dickert from NDSU today and he told me that I am the #1 overall prospect in the Midwest on their board. They offered me a full scholarship. It's great to get an offer on the table. The Bison have a very solid program. I know they've beaten Minnesota and Central Michigan in the past. They have a lot of Wisconsin recruits in their program. I'm excited by the offer."

Just a few short years ago, NDSU probably wouldn't have bothered talking to this kid. While it is highly unlikely that he will be a Bison, the kid obviously is very familiar with the program and he hold NDSU in high regard. At the very least, other potential recruits will read this article and it puts NDSU in a highly positive light. Good start to the 2010 recruiting season.

    More info\update:

Matt Eggen was in East Lansing last Sunday.

After speaking with the coaches, Eggen believes an MSU offer could be on the way. So far he holds an offer from North Dakota State.

Next up for Eggen is a junior day visit to Madison on Sunday. He believes UW, like MSU, might offer in the very near future.

""I'm keeping my options open for every college," Eggen said. "I want to look around and see what's best for me in the end."

Aside from MSU, UW and NDSU, Eggen said he is hearing from Arizona, Indiana, Minnesota and UCLA.

    Matt Eggen

"I currently have offers from Marshall, Northern Iowa, Western Michigan, Illinois State, North Dakota, and North Dakota State," said Eggen. "Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Michigan State are also showing interest."

    He just visited Marshall.

What is up next for Eggen?

"I may go to North Dakota State for their spring game but that isn't written in stone just yet. I really don't have anything specific planned at this point."

Has a favorite emerged for Eggen?

"Not at this point. I am just taking things day by day but I will say that I want to have my mind made up before the start of my senior season. That is my goal right now."

In the classroom, Eggen maintains a 3.1 GPA and is awaiting his SAT scores.

    In todays Star Tribune

    Wayzata recruits
Four defensive standouts are among five Wayzata football players receiving scholarship offers and interest from colleges.

Defensive end Tobi Okuyemi is weighing offers from Iowa, Kentucky, Minnesota, Nebraska, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin. The 6-2, 240-pound Okuyemi recorded 17 tackles for loss and nine sacks last season, helping the Trojans to an undefeated season and the Class 5A title.

Central Florida, Kansas State and Stanford all have offered a scholarship to linebacker A.J. Tarpley. Fellow linebacker Grant Olson has an offer from North Dakota State.

Defensive back Daryl Brown earned an offer from Wyoming. And running back Chris Kroeten is drawing interest from several Division I programs, including Minnesota.

Esley Thorton, QB from BHS. Looks like his name was mentioned on the "other" board, we need to look at this kid.

Yup. Outstanding multi-sport athlete. Hits like a truck from his safety position on defense.
