Quarterback position is fine....we are not a passing team and never will be a passing team....look at the running backs we have! do we really need a stud QB? NO!! Mertens and Parson will be fine, After this season i am willing to bet we will have 1 or 2 QB verbals because these days not many kids want to wait 3 years for their shot at being a starter. But i think mertens senior year we will get some damn good QB's that want their chance in the spotlight

Heard a rumor last night at the WBB game that a QB from California was in this weekend. I mentioned it to a FB coach and he did not deny it. Also said that Sauer (UNI) and Compton were quite a ways apart at Rosemont.

Not a passing team? Are you serious with that last comment? NDSU is able to run the ball so effectively because they able to pass the ball effectively. Throw 8 guys in the box and let's see how effective that running game really is. Don't even bring up Parsons being a QB either. The man looks to run first and pass 2nd, that's not an effective QB who could run the Bison's offense effectively. If Mertens goes down, the Bison are in deep deep trouble. The Bison need a QB this year end of story. They went 2 years without getting a good QB who fits the system, they can't afford to go another.

My concerns have never been about 2008/2009. If you paid attention at all you will see we have no QB younger than Mertens on the roster. That has to be a concern.

I've forwarded your concerns to Craig. Hopefully he will shape up

Thanks! I am clinging to your confidence that there will be a recruit or two on signing day

When we sign this stud quarterback, I hope BisonNeil and Craig Bohl hug it out. "Craig, I have been saying how you have underacheived at recruiting quarterbacks over the years."

Now that would be fun to watch. I can tell you from prior signing day parties that he has not went after a quarterback position in the past. (We have been deep). This year is clearly different, and I think we all are expecting a signing on the 6th. He has earned our trust in the recruiting department.

Do you really think they forgot about the position? Seriously. Mr. Football from Minnesota has been waiting in the wings to take over for arguably the greatest quarterback in NDSU history. Pretty hard to get a recruit excited about that depth chart. This year is different. If we get a kid to sign, then redshirt...he will end up as a 3 year starter (at least on paper).

The 6th can't come soon enough. This class is really good right now.

Edited by Admin to remove copyright material from wissports.net

Here's the summary: a WI defensive lineman recruit named Cavil decommitted from UND and went to Southern Illinois. NDSU didn't offer this particular player so really I could move this to News about other schools, but I guess it's tangentially related to NDSU.

I don't mean to be a hard-ass but I don't want to mess around with copyright problems. Thanks for the heads up though, quedog3.
