I think the NCAA liked Frisco because it had tailgating lots plus other areas for pre-game activities. How many fans want to tailgate in below zero weather or even wait outside for the team walks from the bus into the stadium?
It's OK to not be OK.

I think the NCAA liked Frisco because they offered a hefty bid for the game.

You don't give out trophies for losing. Trophies for sucking. That's a communist idea. You don't get a trophy for losing. You get a piece of pizza and you shut up. Trophies for losing? What the hell happened to us?

This will be awesome for a couple years, and in 2 decades the fcs will be 100000% worse than it would have been without it.

This kind of stuff is basically organizational cancer that you welcome with open arms.

The FBS would be better if it wasn't doing this right now.

FBS is a case study as to why its a bad idea for almost everyone, and a really great idea for a couple people.

Another good article breaking down some of the concerns around this: https://herosports.com/fcs-playoffs-...uity-faq-ksks/

It brought up a good point that private equity is already all over college athletics. For instance NDSU Athletics uses Learfield, a private equity firm, to handle it's media contracts and has for a while.
