TP said on Sam Herder's podcast that there will be a QB competition this spring, and that he hopes to have it resolved before fall camp.

FCS Football Talk wherever you listen to podcasts. Not a bad listen.
This is not 'Nam. This is Bisonville. There are rules here.

This makes so much sense and another example of why I have trust in Polasek.

I don't see it really happening. It's a nice PC thing to say but the advantage in the run game that Cole brings is enormous. At the very least Cole is Tim Tebow only with a stronger and more accurate arm and a lot faster. What he will become in the future at his very best outlook could be something like a cross between Steve Young and Cam Newton. Cole is a TD threat on every snap he takes. Only the most elite FCS defense's will even be able to somewhat contain him. Especially after he hits a few deep and mid-range shots to Bryce,Chris,Raja, and Jackson. Maybe we will even see a TE emerge.

Nobody, at this stage really knows what Cole's true potential really is; Nobody, not Cole, not the coaches, and especially not us.

I really, super really, hope the coaching staff opens up the passing game in those first few games; I mean wide open. It will accomplish two big things: First, it will give Cole live action game experience making reads and hitting receivers with good timing, as well as developing a meshing and synergy with his OL, so when the Coyotes come to town he is ready and able to navigate the pocket and know when he needs to evacuate.

2nd, If the MVFC teams see a successful passing game from Cole and the greatest receiving corps in Bison history, they aren't going to be able to stack the box and attack the raw inexperienced passer in his first year as starter. They will have to defend a complete and balanced offense loaded with elite talent at all skill positions, especially QB run.

Cole will be very good vs FCS Defenses. They wont be able to account for our run game/Cole/and receiving weapons all at once. USD will be a good early test and if things dont go right, will give us time to make changes. He can also be utilized in a Tommy Mellott type of way. The offense could be very explosive with him and think he will have a very big year. With confidence we have in Nathan Hayes, it should open things up a lot more with how we utilize CP.

Sorry but trying to somehow elevate Cole Payton’s athleticism over Tebow is a joke…..you are talking about a guy who won the Heisman and probably should have won a second.

    He’s not Tim Tebow

They are both the same height and weight. I had the same "holy crap!" feeling the first time I saw Payton run in a game just like the first time I saw Trey Lance running with the ball.
It's OK to not be OK.

When Tim Tebow was Cole's age he had thrown for nearly 10,000 yards and 88 TD's, along with nearly 3000 yards and 57 TD's on the ground. He completed 66% of his passes.

I don't think it's fair to Cole to say he's better than Tim Tebow. He's never started a game. When he has played, he's basically been a running back.

I hope the coaches have an idea of his potential. They've seen him practice and worked with him for some time.

Hopefully they give him every opportunity to win the job as the elder statesman, but i won't be surprised either way.
