You could be. If you do any long range shooting then your shot will definitely be impacted by the coreolis effect. Right here on earth. Shorter shots too of course but not detectable.

Conversely, on a bubble screen to a wideout, there are times the receiver may still be in front of the QB when the pass is released but catches a backward pass.

Basing is on the location of the players at the time of the pass is illogical and counter to the basic fundamentals of football. If you are going to flip it to a back behind you while running downfield, you need to make sure you are throwing it behind where you release. Hard to do but doable.

You could make the rule specific to when a QB is in the pocket vs otherwise, there are other rules like that… just a thought.

Or behind the line of scrimmage since forward or backward passes are both legal at that point (unless a forward pass has already been thrown)

All the things I described could happen outside the pocket. And this happens on change of possession plays as well. All passes are forward or backward. It's not that hard. If you are running forward, it's hard to throw a backward pass in stride.

Rugby seems to have solved this simply by not being pedantic about replay.

If the referee called every ball that moved forwards in the air as forwards, then nearly every pass would be called forwards and the game would descend into a continuous sequence of scrums.Even as a former forward and current scrum coach, I wouldn't want to see that.
So in practice the referees recognise that the Laws of Rugby are subject to a higher law, namely the Laws of Physics, and what they look at is the direction in which the passer's hands released the ball. If the ball left the hands backwards towards the player's own tryline, then it's regarded as backwards, even if its momentum then carries it forwards.”

Let me ask you another question: In your view, is the Official College Football rulebook infallible, or do you think it can be improved upon?

I'm sure we are not the only ones to see this. It seems since his almost MVP year he has made every play look so damn hard. Can't seem to take what the defense gives him and seems to have a predetermined idea of the best outcome of each play call has to be the result.

I don't think his mentality changed after the injury I just think things were working more the not when he was playing at a high level but the odds caught up with him over time, imo.

I have issues with several rules that I would like to see changed. And they make changes every year, so it's constantly evolving. Forward backward is not an area of concern by anyone though. This pass was clearly forward by any possible rule. I don't know enough about rugby to know the nuances of forward and backward. I just know that nobody would want the examples I gave to be reversed, and your rule change suggestion would do that.

His concussion caused by the deliberate jump on his head changed everything for him. Jevon Clowney (the spelling may be incorrect) destroyed Carson's career.

The Rugby rule, or least the common interpretation, seems to be about the orientation of the hand(s) i.e. is the ball throw backward relative to the passer rather than relative to chalk on grass. I don’t want the examples you gave reversed. I want a rule that makes sense because the two I saw this week were clearly legal laterals to everyone but the nit in the replay booth. This is truely No Fun League level over analyzing that removes exciting plays from the game.
