Anyone know if we offered this guy: Chris Tracy from West Lyon High School in Iowa. I see he signed with UND and good for him, I don't really care about that. I always find it interesting when newspapers or web sites say he chose XYZ school over ABC, DEF schools. So was he offered by these other schools or not? It's one thing to say yeah I was recruited by Florida but decided to go to NDSU instead when in fact all the recruiting by Florida was a GA sticking a 41 cent stamp on some vanilla letter they send out to every kid on the block and his grandma. Hell if that's the case, I was recruited by NDSU..............of course stamps were a little less expensive back then.

On a side note, I don't want this to turn into a Bison vs. Sioux pissing match, we've got enough of that going on right now, I'm happy for Mr. Tracy, I hope he goes on and does well up north, just using him as an example.

It could have been a full ride scholorship or a walk on. They could have looked at him once and say, "nah, not very good" or they could have him pegged as the next Kellen Winslow. It doesn't mention NDSU as making an offer so he's probably a good player but not a guy so special we're going to look back and say, son of a! Officially it says UND, Montana, and Ohio. (Ohio who? The MAC school Miami Ohio? Ohio State? Ohio Community College?) They signed him a few days after we got our TE out of Minot Ryan so he was probably the 2nd choice.

ANYHOW... there is a good thread on the Sioux board.

NDSU and UND are recruiting Will Jackson a 6'1" 230lb Linebacker/Running Back who was 2nd Team AP All State.
http://www.district196.org/evhs/athl...spects08.htmHe looks to be good and I hope he chooses us.

Also there is this recruit out of Wisconsin (I COPIED THIS FROM THE SIOUX BOARD) that is getting interest from EVERYBODY including Iowa, who is his #1 choice but they have fallen back. He's already visited UND and will visit NDSU later to compare. I hope we make a good impression.

DL Kyle Cavil (6-4, 240), Sr., Ashwaubenon

Another prospect who has become extremely popular with college recruiters in recent weeks is Ashwaubenon defensive lineman Kyle Cavil.

FCS teams can still split scholarships
NDSU graduated 11 but probably has a couple more full rides pulled from defectors

Actually, these are the schools: Tracy, who also rushed for 1,077 yards, chose North Dakota over South Dakota, South Dakota State, North Dakota State, Augustana and Northwestern College. I think you are thinking of the kid from Eastview in Apple Valley. All I was stating is who really knows what was offered by who, kids and media sources don't always say the level of interest that was given by the other schools. High school coaches are going to brag their guys up too, makes them look better. So when you read Tracy chose UND over USD, ect, ect, did he really or did the others back off and not offer. Hell, if I was in the process, I'd play a little poker with these schools too, make them think I've got pocket aces.

Looks like they say we offered him. It will be interesting to see where he ends up probably will depend on position he wants to play. Looks to be nice sized.

Yup, LB's are great athletes and usually versatile. If you can throw a few more pounds on them, they can play DE, if they're quick enough they move to SS.

Plus, NDSU usually has three LB's on the field at one time, so you need plenty of depth.

Plus they make great special teams players! Think of a line of LBs blocking in front of Shamen Washington...
