1) most of the guys aren't on full rides.
2) $4500 (9 months x $500) is not enough to cover flights for a season.
3) most of these guys aren't getting a penny of NIL.

I'll go even farther and say that they have largely surpassed us. Name a sport outside of T&F that they haven't out competed us on a consistent basis over the last 5 years? I'll hang up and listen.

You can replace "other sports" with "men's basketball" - no other sport outside of football really moves the needle when it comes to making a school desirable for conferences. I think NDSU has plenty of alumni support to support an FBS program - donor contributions right now are more than many G5 schools. The main problem is and always has been geography.

Don't forget facilities... The FFD is the perfect size for NDSU FCS football but it will never be an adequate FBS facility. It would currently rank 3rd to last in capacity. Charlotte has plans in place to expand their 15,000 seat stadium so that would leave us and SHSU fighting it out for last. I'm 100% for a move to FBS but am 100% against all this Fargodome convention center expansion as it does nothing for the Football program. We have to find a way to get to 25k+. Most G5 FBS programs don't sell out their stadiums or come close to it. . However, if you want to host a big game on campus and pull an occasional upper end G5 (Boise, Memphis, ECU, etc) or lower end P5 (Washington State, Oregon State, etc) you gotta have enough capacity to accommodate their fan base and entourage. If we don't have the ability to host big names we are designed to host Sam Houston's, Jax State's, and South Alabama's of FBS in perpetuity. That is basically what happened to Idaho and it basically killed their DI mojo.

That’s actually a pretty reasonable aspiration of our program if you ask me. Playoff expands to 12 teams, with one spot guaranteed for the highest rated G5 team… you don’t think NDSU could make that happen?

Geography is NOT. It's a f&*%king Plane Ride. we Fly to Western Ill Indiana Youngstown Missouri. Whats the difference flying to Colorado State, Boise, Nevada about another 30-60 minutes in a plane at the same price. stop that nonsense strawman
