    One question for you.

    1) What percentage of TV revenue should go directly to football players that are in the Big Ten? I used NFL model where players get 48% for the numbers.

    Some data to think about:

The Georgia/LSU football game averaged 10.89 million viewers (Source - https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/col...ll-tv-ratings/)
The Michigan/Purdue football game averaged 10.7 million viewers
The highest viewed basketball game this year was Creighton/DePaul at just under 3 million views. (source - https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/202...xing-day-luka/ )
The women's Volleyball championship game had 786,000 viewers on ESPN2.
No, he’s talking about the B10 too. Football and basketball are the only sports that generate real revenue. Not profits, revenue. You have all the other men’s scholarships you have to pay for, and then you can go ahead and pay for all the women’s scholarships too. The B10 non revenue sports are probably getting by paying for equipment and most expenses with donations but that is A LOT of scholarships.

Everyone loses their shit about how much head coaches make. To your point he’s got 85 subordinates getting paid $75k a year. And on top of that 10 coaches making a quarter million. All the sudden getting $2M doesn’t seem too far out of the ordinary.

Especially compared to the women’s lacrosse players who are getting $75k to play in front of an empty stadium that the radio folks won’t even bother to show up to cover.

Just based on red tape and the current structure of collegiate athletics, you can probably divide that 49% number by 5-10. Best case

Thank you. Here is a good article about "profitability" from 2 years ago. People need to understand there is a huge difference between profits and revenue. Outside the coaches and athletic directors, those who work in athletics make less than they would in similar jobs in private industry. And their hours suck.

Ruiz says that now, but they start losing high-end recruits to the Gators/'Noles due to higher NIL deals, the wallet will open back up. Plus, don't forget that Luther Campbell (Uncle Luke) has all that 2 Live Crew money floating around and loves wining and dining the U football players!

If our D-line is undersized and gets mauled by SDSU, we need some size

If I were to guess more on Landon Gauthier’s offer from Minnesota,
they wanted to get in before Wisconsin offers, with new Coach Fickell due to visit Gauthier this week. Fickell has been busy with his transfer portal/Cincinnati decommit prospects plus the rest of the ‘23 class.

It’s interesting to watch each school going into another school’s state, and maybe offering more borderline prospects. Getting something from your competitor is always good, right? That is why you often see Iowa State make the first P5 offer in Minnesota, for example.

But kinda to HerdBot’s point, I’d get a chuckle if someone would try to commit on those early offers. And if they can’t, well, it wasn’t really an offer. The player could always decommit if something better came along……like the homestate school.

And some more guessing, with Coach Fickell putting more emphasis to the East Southeast (Chicago Ohio Cincinnati’s recruiting footprint) and having success with it, perhaps a couple more Wisconsin high schoolers will be available in the future.

And one last ramble, I still like seeing NDSU build relationships with prospects in their traditional recruiting footprint. Even if their recruiting blows up later. But building those relationships, especially in this age if the Transfer Portal, so if things don’t work out the player might consider NDSU in the future. One example in the current class being Zenzen. Another example I hope on is that NDSU has offered a number of big DL’s the last few years, but lost them to the FBS. So if Martin Owusu or Ellineus Davis or Karter Menz become available in a year or two or three……
