NDSU coaches should be talking to 4 star kids and say "you can play Day 1 at NDSU right now, we have openings"

How do you know they aren't saying that? It's unlikely that the recruits grandma gets a transcript of the conversation....

4 star kids go to big schools. I'm sure this is a joke. But...

A guy who claims to have invented the star system admit that stars are largely a result of offers. A four star player necessarily has the options to go many different routes. If early playing time is important for them, they have options that are more enticing than coming to NDSU.

The only chance NDSU would ever get one of them at FCS is if a guy like the SD QB decided he really wanted to stay home.

But as a rule - a kid who has 4 stars next to his name isn't coming to Fargo as a freshman. Can get 4 star quality guys, ND is "the" school in a very sparsely populated area and is therefore very lightly recruited. Kids can't get those 4th stars here without coaches coming out to see/offer them.

I guess the other possibility is if the kid can't qualify to play FBS football, but a lot of schools aren't going to even bother offering a kid who they know can't qualify or can't get into that school, thereby limiting the number of offers and throttling his ability to get that 4th star.

At least thats my understanding from listening to podcasts.

    Interesting prospects!
With as many portal entries we have lost, there is probably more money available than they expected for the late signing period. It will be interesting to see how many guys they sign on signing day in February. Also will more interesting to see if we bring in some experience at some of the positions we lost upperclassmen too.

I think you could see portal kids at CB, Safety, and possibly RB. I would also like to think they could be in the market for a WR or DT, but we do return a lot of players at those positions. Also have some youth that are highly touted waiting in the wings at both spots. Maybe a TE is another position you could add a portal kid at.
