A new and better FBS thread

It is an impressive facility. It is 75-80% football focused. Other sports will benefit in smaller ways. It’s a big price tag to maintain success at the FCS level. It is needed more to up our recruiting if we’re FBS. Smells a little like ego and besting SDSU & UND.

It was needed. Regardless if we move up or not.

The AAC gets way more coverage and way way more tv money..Most of their teams are in large population areas..The MW doesn't have a lot of that. But since you are all looking at the MW as nothing more than a way station for a few seasons, that shouldn't hold you back.

I'd be pretty happy with the AAC or MWC. AAC is paying out less to new members though, and their locations seem less ideal.
Unlike Chapo, I believe if we make a move to FBS someday we will be in that conference at least 10 years. Maybe more. That's why I'm completely opposed to moving to a crap conference just for the label. The teams in the conference matter to me, because that is who we would play every single year.

I think that’s definitely debatable. You and CAS obviously believe the football program has earned this investment. That’s a fair point given the results of the FB program. Looking at it from more of a ROI perspective it doesn’t make near as much sense.

The posters on here who believe they would totally wreck the MW from day 1 think the MW "is" a crappy conference. Why would you want to be in a crappy conference. In their eyes the MW is so crappy that the conference would never be the highest rated G5 ever.

I used your "wreck" line but others here have said from Day 1..I understand that you folks have a lot of pride in your program..That part is cool..I don't really think anybody here "wants" to be in the MW because they respect or admire the conference in any way...You just want FBS.

Sure it pisses you off that they haven't invited you ...yet. I understand that too. To see a conference that most here believe is beneath NDSU isn't jumping gleefully at the chance to add you has to be frustrating.

MW would be a good fit. Quality of football wise, definitely not a stretch for NDSU.

Were you to be invited I would welcome you being a good football program. I am unconvinced that it would be all that easy for you but I don't dispute that it is possible.

However, when I ask what NDSU has that the MW doesn't have you said "decent football." If you don't believe there is any decent football in the MW why bother? You don't want a step up in competition because you don't believe that MW football is a step up from the FCS conference you play in now.

You want the MW to be the hired backup band for your solo career..That just doesn't seem like a good reason to jump to a lesser conference just to get different initials..

The football program has earned the support it gets. Money wasn’t just thrown at it in hopes it would get better. The MBB program has done nothing of that sort, nothing, despite money/facility improvements having been directed at the program. Still not convinced at all that throwing money at MBB will automatically result in a better product, although difficult at this point to be worse.

Upping coaches pay to bring in better staff is huge in BBall.

MW is much better than the MVFC, the bottom of the MVFC is absolute trash. That is the real difference between the two....WIU, Indiana State and Murray State are about as pud as it gets.
