How many of those students, alumni or others are actually Kennesaw State fans and would watch one of their games if Georgia was playing at the same time? It's like saying KVLY should broadcast Dragons football since they are in the largest media market in North Dakota.

Very true, but for fbs conferences, sometimes they care more about location, market, and potential.

Not saying that's smart, its just reality. CUSA and AAC in particular focus on the market and location.
That's why Charlotte got an AAC invite, and schools like Tulane and Temple are there too.
None of those schools are particularly good at football or pack the stadium on gameday.

What should FBS conferences care about?

Ideally they would care about the fanbase and winning.
Unfortunately, it's very clear that location and market potential trumps that for most G5.

I'm in the "FBS now no matter what" camp because I think that later it will be too late. There will be no more seats left when the music stops. Actually, it is probably already too late. Your "pause-and-consider-and-plan-for-20-year-conference-membership" approach can be summed up in one word: inertia. Or stagnation. You pick.

Some people who think it is time for FBS now used to deride and chastise people that thought it was time a few years ago. In another year or two, with no movement on this issue and no public declaration of NDSU's intent to make the move, you'll finally see the light and, in frustration, you will be clamoring for "FBS now no matter what". But you will likely have no self-awareness to remember this fan board conversation or prediction. And more importantly, your clamoring then will be as effective as my clamoring now. Which is to say, not effective at all.

We are in a better position now for FBS than in 2012. It’s not like we turned down past offers and now none will ever come, a conference invite has never been offered back then or now. We are not getting one for the foreseeable future and we can’t do anything about it! It’s out of our control. FNS independent would be program suicide!

Yeah I think the BSA project had its flaws but that's not stopping people from going.

The SHAC is pretty nice place to watch basketball. We need people to get more excited for it. You would have thought big dance trips would have sparked more interest in the program. I’m guilt as most because I’m not a BB guy

More people might care about Kenesaw if they were FBS! FCS doesn’t register in the SEC foot print!

I think just winning the summit isn't enough to spark a fanbase that is used to FCS titles.
We need to get a NCAA win or two that isn't seen as a play in game.

Beat a name like Duke, UNC, Michigan, Oregon, Arizona, etc and people would notice.
Get to the sweet 16 and people could get excited.
