Alright! Two quality, non-conference wins. Let's hope that's a sign of good things to come.
I wasn’t able to watch the Drake game but nice to see they were able to put wins together against a couple of the better teams they’ve faced so far. The Green Bay game was a little ugly, but they putting forth the better effort in that game and were able to finish off with a win.

Bison finish off the non-conf start of the schedule with a tie at Idaho and a 3-0 loss at Montana game.
Stats looked like Idaho played better and had a lot more scoring opportunities than the Bison so a tie is most likely a good result.
I was able to watch the Montana game and the Griz were at a different level than the Bison. Bison looked to be lacking in both pace and skill.
On to the start of the conference season with road trips to Denver and Omaha. Two of the top three SL teams the past couple seasons. Then a pair of home games against St Thomas and WIU, a pair of teams in the bottom half of the SL (other than WIU last year finished 5th). A tie on the road and a couple wins at home would be a great start to the conference season.

Let's hope that there were some lessons learned from the match versus UNC and that the coaching staff has properly prepared the team for tonight's match versus Denver.
Losing to Omaha and Denver on the road wasn't unexpected.
Losing 3-2 to St Thomas tonight at home after leading twice in the game was definitely unexpected. Really need a win vs Western Illinois to prevent being the only Summit team without any points. Gotta take care of business at home, especially with the SD schools being the other home weekend.

Yes, as recently as 2016 the team finished 1st in the conference but weren't able to advance to the NCAA playoffs. In 2010 they prevailed in the conference tournament, after finishing 2nd during conference play, and they advanced to the NCAA playoffs. It's all right here:

Unfortunately the team doesn't seem to be moving in a positive direction right now.
Yes, they used to be at least a middle to upper Summit team and did OK in the NCC. Program has taken a significant nosedive since Mark Cook left. Program had decent recruits to sustain for a year or two and now is scraping the bottom. They had made the postseason conference tournament for something like 16-17 consecutive years until the current coaching staff broke that streak. Too much time spent trying to find the hidden diamond recruit in the 52nd tier of California that would commit to NDSU. Need to get back to recruiting within the region.
