I don't see what's so confusing about this. Digitally erase the players from the video, imagine they don't exist. Trace the path of the ball as soon as it's airborne. Is that line forward or backward? That's it.

Right as far as how the the rule is written n the NFL that is it.

Exactly. It's pretty simple. I'm confused by the debate. Probably incorrectly so, but I generally assume that most people on a football message board played some amount of football at one time or another and learned about the game. The definition of a forward or backward pass is one of the very first things that you learn. It has never once been debatable for me since about 3rd grade unless the ball is directly down the line and there's a bad view/camera angle.

I'm not sure how many are debating if it was or wasn't a backward pass according to the rule but whether the rule itself makes sense or the nuances of how a player can toss the ball backward(at an angle) but it travels forward.

Great job NDSU...again. I annoys me to no end that NDSU does not seem to have any true down or rebuilding years, I guess that is a credit to the program, tradition, and perhaps a function of being a non-directional state university. I'm still high on UNI this year, though somewhat predictably UNI fan's hopes were a bit overly optimistic with the idea we have this stud QB who is the missing piece. I think Theo Day has great potential, but ultimately it's a 20 year-old kid who is new to the program.
Benny Sapp's hit was obviously an infraction, but missed calls don't stun me and I don't think it was malicious. But yes dangerous and he should have been ejected.
Hopefully UNI will get another shot at the Bison in the postseason, but I'm not holding my breath.

He threw the ball backwards, it traveled forwards, and the pitching player stayed behind it when it was touched. It’s an extremely weird play and has definitely been talked about on other platforms.

Except that football is a direct descendent of Rugby and they’ve got the rule interpretation being discussed. Also the NFL changes rules all of the time.

People bitching about his accuracy also fail to acknowledge he had another game without a pick.

Last year our QBs threw more picks than TDs and none of them, including Trey Lance in his 1 game, completed more than 51%. of their passes

QP2 is a special QB with elite skills. What's scary is he can still improve so much and his ceiling is unlimited.

Yes! Yes! This! The really good news is we are watching QP get better every game right before our eyes. I was ectasy this last game seeing the field spread and QP back to pass on so many downs. I think somebody got to Entz and Rohl or they just finally realized it themselves; if QP doesn't get the actual game experience managing his pocket and making reads in real time competitive action we have no chance to advance in this year's loaded playoff field.

We may lose a couple on the way but I believe if we just get into the playoffs we can win it all. There other young guys contributing in a major way and they are all getting better. The pro's of having a big strong fast punishing runner for QB are obvious, but if QP can learn fast this year and stay healthy, this offense is uber talented.

We may even see a few freshman come on later.

The pitch traveled forward relative to the field. It was a forward pass. This isn't complicated.
