I have the honor to be Your Obedient Servant - B.Aud
We all live in stories... It seems to me that a definition of any living vibrant society is that you constantly question those stories... The argument itself is freedom. It's not that you come to a conclusion about it. Through that argument you change your mind sometimes... That's how societies grow. When you can't retell for yourself the stories of your life then you live in a prison... Somebody else controls the story. - S. Rushdie
It would depend on the specific language in the contract, but good luck. My assumption is that it's typically pretty favorable towards the host in these situations.
As an example, in our standard sales contract anything outside our "reasonable control" counts including but not limited to, changes in law, accidents, terrorist acts, explosions, fires, windstorms, floods or other natural disasters, strikes, lockouts or other labor difficulties, riots, wars, or insurrections.
If it's not specified I guess you could argue that a pandemic isn't outside their reasonable control? I don't think you'd get very far, but I guess you could. The decision coming from the conference and not the school is also likely in their favor.
Some say it's a backward place. Narrow minds on a narrow way, but I make it a point to say. That that's where I come from.

“I really thought you had to run the football to control the game,” Erhardt once said. “You had to throw the football to score but had to run the football to win.” - Ron Erhardt

TV would benefit by them playing because that will be the only way to watch it. Whether it becomes unwatchable due to no in stadium atmosphere is an argument though.
So I can see FBS taking that route and some of them would limit their losses but fcs isn't going to have that liberty.
