I say the latter. He's no Keller, at least not yet, but he's good enough if the coaches realize his limitations. Which they don't seem to.
This. He's a freshman that was out there barely missing 54 and 52 yarders. It's not like he shanked two gimmies. He's been streaky all year, but Keller wasn't automatic as a freshman either.

My bigger issue in both situations was how we ended up in those positions, but that he missed the kicks.
Some say it's a backward place. Narrow minds on a narrow way, but I make it a point to say. That that's where I come from.

Dude, the whole idea that we're comparing our kicker to Helen Keller tells me that he shouldn't be attempting 50+ yarders.
Many thousands are in want of common necessaries; hundreds of thousands are in want of common comforts, sir."
Scrooge-"Are there no prisons?". "Plenty of prisons..."
Scrooge-"And the Union workhouses." . "Are they still in operation?". "Both very busy, sir..."
"Those who are badly off must go there."
"Many can't go there; and many would rather die."
Scrooge- "If they would rather die," "they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population."

Helen Keller could kick 50+ yard field goals??! That's impressive!

Crowd noise was never a factor for her.

From here on out it we should be going for it on 4th down on anything inside the 40.

His confidence is struggling right now. He was kicking into the south end zone at half time and it seemed like every kick just barely missed wide left. He was really put in a tough situation yesterday with attempting those 2 50+ yard FGs. I think if early on he could get a nice easy 30ish yard FG, the confidence would start to rise, but right now it looks like a struggle.

The way that Ben was flipping the field yesterday just let him do his work and let the defense reap the benefits. Our All-American punter is going to be a very tough one to replace next year, but I'm just glad we get to enjoy his craft in Fargo for one more game.

I'd qualify that by saying anything 4th and 3 or less. With a weapon like LeCompte if I'm at the 35-40 and its 4th and 4 or more I let him do his thing and pin them deep. Like Farley said in his postgame presser being pinned that deep really limits the playbook and gives a good chance that 4-7 plays later you're probably going to get the ball back again with a 1st down right around midfield (or possibly even a safety ).
