Some of you might think, "who cares?" But Stemen, who was the successor to Tim Miles at Southwest, has resigned as head coach to take a job as a physician recruiter in Bismarck.

In the past 8 years as head coach he led the Mustangs to a record of 141-97 (the winningest coach in SMSU history), including coming off a trip to the 2009 Elite Eight.

The new interim head coach is Brad Bigler, who played for the Mustangs from 1997 to 2002. Bigler, 30, has moved up the ranks at Southwest from player to GA to assistant to associate head coach, and is now the 11th head coach in the programs 42 year history.

"Brad is a great choice for the Mustangs," said Tim Miles, former SMSU men's basketball head coach (1997-2001) and current head coach at Colorado State University. "He has devoted most of his adult life to SMSU. That devotion typifies a commitment to excellence rarely seen. He was highly successful as a player and will do the same as the Mustangs head coach."
