Sam was going pro until his health situation last year derailed him a bit and then he got the opportunity to play at his dream school from his childhood and Kyan is trying to build his resume to be a head coach and worked with Crutch before he even came to NDSU. I'm so sick of people saying they left because of issues at NDSU, they both took great opportunities to further their career. Dave isn't going anywhere and Kyan knows that so getting assistant experience under another head coach adds to his resume, not to mention Crutch is up there in age and likely looking to get to a P5 head coaching job before he retires so likely a quicker route to being the head guy in Omaha than at NDSU.
