We all live in stories... It seems to me that a definition of any living vibrant society is that you constantly question those stories... The argument itself is freedom. It's not that you come to a conclusion about it. Through that argument you change your mind sometimes... That's how societies grow. When you can't retell for yourself the stories of your life then you live in a prison... Somebody else controls the story. - S. Rushdie
Yea we don't need the stimulus so much in the area of the economy but we could use the stimulus in spending on education in the state. The state coffers are bursting at the seams with surpluses before they find ways to blow it on other stuff they should step up their game on funding the colleges. In another 10 years how much will be stuffed into the reserves?
We have just went through about 5 years of unprecedented profit in the AG sector. It actually extended all the way down to the producers.
I have a strong feeling that is about to change. Maybe even a few truly ugly years in the near future. The affects are likely to be widespread. Belt tightening all around.
I'd love to know what Bohl's take on the subject is/was?
Let's say the BCS broke off tomorrow and 2014 will have 3 levels of DI football. We're going to see an unprecedented conference shakeup. The left behind FBS schools are going to be pissed at the loss of revenue and perception of prestige from being top tier. The top schools will be begging to be accepted in the BCS, few if any will get in. Most if not all scholarship FCS conferences will want to be in the new mid-tier, someone(NCAA? ESPN?) will have to pick which make the cut. Somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 max move up to leave a functioning FCS. CAA, MVFC, SoCon go, dropping a few schools. Big Sky breaks in half. Now we have 5 oversized former FBS conferences, 4 undersized former FCS, and a few FCS independents. It's going to take awhile for that to sort out and nobody will be happy for years. We will find a home though.
UCF just stroked a check for $3.4 million to the bowl committee because they couldn't get rid of their ticket guarantee. And Ohio State is on the hook for 10,000 unsold tickets to their BCS bowl. If that's what you're selling, I'm not buying I-A football.

The Orlando Sentinal and USA Today say that over half the athletic department budget is covered by student fees, almost $20 million dollars in 2012.
Taking $1.7 million out of student pockets to line those of a select few already rich guys on a noaccount bowl committee makes no sense to me.
