Once "The Pentagon" as they are calling it, is completed; I don't see the Summit League Basketball Tournament going anywhere anytime soon.

That project isn't the reason the tournament would stay in Sioux Falls. With a capacity of 3,100?
It's the new basketball arena that is going to be built attached to the existing Sioux Falls Arena with a capacity of over 10,000 (I think) that will keep the tournament there.

They have some nice facilities. I like the mix of private/public use. Hopefully some day Fargo can approve a Fargodome expansion with a basketball/hockey/trade show addition as well as widening the Dome to increase capacity to 30k so we can set the FCS record for football attendance and have a stadium big enough for an FBS move. Plus massive concerts of 40k. Worst case do a Kibbie Dome style expansion for less. http://idaho.scout.com/2/1182373.html The addition could be used for tournaments like the Summit and High School Tournaments, medium sized concerts, basketball games that need more space (Bison/Sioux) and help accomadate the Marathon that is running out of floor space to expand. Let the park board use it too for hockey space. North Fargo could use something. And then to keep the art crowd happy do something for them too. Maybe incorporate a courts plus into it so it appeals to everyone
The concert world has changed dramatically since the early 90s. There are not that many bands that can draw 25k anymore so it would be a benefit to have a place that houses 5-10k fans. Anyone who has seen a concert in the smaller configuration knows its a bad deal. Place feels as electric as a state basketball tournament with 10k empty seats. I think if we want to be the premeire entertainment center of the upper Midwest we need to do this.

It's not as persuasive as a new events center, but it's still a major selling point.
Sioux Falls: All the team practice venues are in one spot, about five-ten minutes from the Arena/hotel.
Fargo: Team practice venues are likely scattered around the city in HS & college gyms.
That would be big for the community. If Fargo ever wants something similar we best continue to match Sioux Falls facility wise. This will elevate their High School Sports too. Heres a video and pictures. All i have to say is wow!

The Pentagon is not designed for the Summit League Tournament, but will be a great place to watch a basketball game. The Skyforce will begin playing its homegames there in 2013. For a better look at the facility - check out this website and the video. Exciting stuff for SF and Sanford.
