Lakes you, unbison, and several others on this message board are so full of crap......Mertens sucks and who knows if Jose is that great either. NDSU needs 2 recruits in this years class that are promising QB's with game smarts and talent. Best if one could be a talented JUCO, or better yet a transfer from FBS. The other could be one of the high school kids we have been talking about. NDSU drastically needs some talent and depth at the QB position. This way thay can push each other for the starting position and provide options for the coaching staff during each game and the season.

Thanks....I totally forgot that Tony was doing some comparisons with detailed info in the quick reference recruiting thread and had already done the QB's.

Been patiently awaiting an announcement on QB and a kicker and then I will be a real happy camper. Have been thrilled with the verbals so far.

Funny Bohl mentioned they made a mistake in not recruiting a QB for the past several years.

    • Josh Gatlin, 6'2, 195, Jacksonville, FL/NDSCS *Verbal to NDSU, 12/17/2008* over offers from UNI and FBS FIU. Very athletic, very fast.
    • Matt Kerswill, 6'1, 180, DC Everest, WI Offered by NDSU. Track athlete (part of the state championship 4x100 relay team). Played both DB and WR.
    • Bobby Ollman, 5'11, 200, Homestead, WI Also offered. Wissports.net's #33 prospect in WI. DB on Homestead's state championship team.
    • Shane Cronin, 6'2, 210, Arizona Western College, AZ (JUCO) Safety prospect http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=pXcRPChkWn0
    • Derrick Engel, 6'2, 170, 4.4, Chaska, MN: Rivals.com #2 WR prospect in MN. Good speed and vertical.
    • Jarrett Fowlkes, 5'8, 160, Delaven, WI WR.
    • Christian Jessie, 5'9, 160, Grand Rapids (East Kentwood), MI DB.
    • Chase Maires, 5'10, 195, The Woodlands (Houston), TX Conference defensive player of the year.
    • Aaron Richter, 6'4, 180, Mankato (West), MN
    • Varmah Sonie, 5'9, 156, Apple Valley, MN DB.
    • Cooper Wahlo Jr., 6'2, 175, 4.47, Woodbury, MN WR.
Heres some video on Fowlkes. I dont think much contact from NDSU lately. They were looking at him for KR I think more. Kind of a Shamen Washington. The kid can cut and has good upper body strength! Never down on the first tackle attempt.

Lakes, put the bong down and back away from the computer. Mertens is absolutely finished. No one has confidence in the guy, including himself. Sorry, but he cost us the season this year and I'm not suffering through another one like this year.

I think QB is a position you should always recruit for.
