Throw 8 guys in the box and let's see how effective that running game really is. Don't even bring up Parsons being a QB either. The man looks to run first and pass 2nd, that's not an effective QB who could run the Bison's offense effectively. If Mertens goes down, the Bison are in deep deep trouble. The Bison need a QB this year end of story. They went 2 years without getting a good QB who fits the system, they can't afford to go another.
thats could go both ways.....maybe we are an effective passing team cuz we are so efficient running the ball?, and what i meant by not a passing team is that we dont ever need to put up 500YDS in the air every game, look at the stats its usually 250 yds rushing a game and 200 yds passing per game, and most of our passes are short and alot of play action that works amazing because of what? OUR RUNNING GAME!!!

They are also high percentage passes. Very few "fly" patterns as per Babich Ball.

Time to chill.
Very well said! Their track record speaks for itself

Maybe my eyes are tricking me, but don't teams usually play 8 in the box against us anyway? IMO it would be almost impossible to stop Roehl with less.

If it's left up to the opposing team's secondary, it ain't gonna happen.

Now that would be fun to watch. I can tell you from prior signing day parties that he has not went after a quarterback position in the past. (We have been deep). This year is clearly different, and I think we all are expecting a signing on the 6th. He has earned our trust in the recruiting department.

Do you really think they forgot about the position? Seriously. Mr. Football from Minnesota has been waiting in the wings to take over for arguably the greatest quarterback in NDSU history. Pretty hard to get a recruit excited about that depth chart. This year is different. If we get a kid to sign, then redshirt...he will end up as a 3 year starter (at least on paper).

The 6th can't come soon enough. This class is really good right now.
Check around, see how many FCS schools go two straight years without a QB recruit. I have found a handful that went one year without one, never two consequtive. Is that forgetting the position, I don't know. I only know it makes me uncomfortable also.

But, regardless of what BisonNeil wants to do, I will hug whomever it takes to get a stud QB recruit. I may be willing to do more to get two

I think SirHinn had it right. Threat of the pass opens up the run game, otherwise there are too many in the box. When Walker had two off games and we couldn't throw for about 7 of 8 quarters agains SLO and SDSU, how well did we run? Not worth a damn!!

it wasnt the passing game that killed us in those games...how about turnovers? blocked punts, punts returned for touchdowns, poor tackling, this debate could go on it on cuz its strictly opinion based, and i am not saying we dont need a QB recruit or that i dont want one...what i meant is that im not gonna be the one bashing bohl or the coaches because we havent signed a QB yet

I haven't been paying attention much lately, but didn't we have a DT from NDSCS who was transferring in? I opened up the recruiting thread and didn't see him on there anymore.
