My point is that Bohl and company have not much obvious success in recruiting a QB. Mertens is the only talented QB in his 4+ yrs as a recruiter here. You cannot convince me that he has been the only QB of his level in the recruiting footprint of NDSU. We have roughly 12 days to see if they can turn it around.
Turn it around? Get a clue, they've already turned it around. I'm pretty sure they have a better recruiting plan than some clowns (myself included) on a message board.

Just a head's up: We're probably recruiting Michigan because Coach Nystrom has deep ties there. Kind of the same deal as Houston once Reggie Moore came on board.

Although people don't realize it gets in the 90's and humid here in the summer.
Hey we have had kids from Fl. Miss, and Tx and most have stayed and liked it here. Why don't you quit bad rappen them. That bunch has some real studs in it.

He must have a vertical as a local sports report said he has a dozen for so dunks on the basketball court. Sounds like a great recruit.

You're right. This weather thing gets blown out of proportion too. There's only a few days a year where it's really a pain in the ass.

Name one position that has not had a recruit in the last two years, or a verbal this year. Answer: QB, no other position has been so ignored. No other position is as important. So, you should get a clue Gully, or simply take off the rose-colored glasses.

Bottom line: This staff has not successfully turned around their lack of success in recruiting QBs, yet. Mertens is their sole recruit with the kind of talent this team needs. Hopefully that all changes in the next 11 days.

i'm thinking the delay on a QB HAS to be that they might go to an FBS school, and if not, we should get him. Or, there might be word of a possible transfer coming up, and they are just waiting for it to happen. I hardly think the QB position is being ignored.

I'm one to side on the QB position being just fine the way it is. I think Bohl knows what he is doing, and yes, there is no point in signing a QB that obviously isn't going to ever make an impact for our team just because he is a QB.

NDSU has dominated the FCS the last few years and I wouldn't expect that trend to deviate much in the next few years. BCS transfers notice this. They don't want to "drop down a level" to play for some Northern Colorado that is never going to win anything if there is a better option. These guys will visit NDSU, see the history, fan support, and exposure and then ask what they need to do to sign a letter of intent. We are now eligible for the playoffs and that is what IMO held a lot of the top BCS transfer back from signing here. When the time comes that the QB position is wide open at NDSU we are going to have a waiting line for top prospect QB recruits.

How do you know they've "lacked success"...perhaps since they had Walker, Mertens, and Parsons, they focused more on other needs. I don't think you have to wear rose colored glasses to see that. For all we know they have a top notch qb lined up already for this next class. They've shown they can recruit top talent, they just haven't needed a QB. They do now so I can agree with you that hopefully something is announced in the next 11 days or at least on signing day.

Patience is a virtue and is deserved based on the results produced by the Bison Football staff over the 5 year transition period. As fans, we are not involved and are not privy to the same information as the coaches, nor should we be. There is no doubt in my mind that Bohl and staff have a plan and are executing on that plan. Time to chill.
