Horner is a huge get as the top in-state recruit and it's also great that we got the TE from Minot Ryan!!

I admit, I did it. I went to Siouxsports, because I was wondering if Horner was a big recruit/interest for them....this is what I found.

    ------------------------------------------

Horner couldn't beat out Solum in high school. Apparently he didn't think there was any point potentially subjecting himself to the same thing in college.

    -----------------

Unreal. Another poster said that he would have been behind Solum and some other guy on the depth chart. Well, to Horner's credit, he went to the better program, and took the chance that someday, with a ton of hard work, he will be the go to running back. Congrats to him, and the Bison. Sounds like a great kid.

I remember when we got Mertins over UND, and Mertins was responding to how he would be behind Walker for a few years...and he was fine with that, and stated that he loved competition. Love that about these kids.

Funny. We recruited Solumn as a defensive back. He wasn't good enough to start for us but was good enough to start for UND. He still considered us. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?...ncf&id=2717948

Solum ran behind an all star line led by Austin Richards too. Actually, the line was so good that all 5 starters played in the Badlands bowl which is ND vs Montana. http://www.mtstandard.com/articles/2...school_top.txt

Horner didn't get that luxury but he still managed to rush for 1,865 yards and 28 touchdowns on 154 attempts in his senior for 12.1 ypc
