    THIEF RIVER FALLS 21,

    DULUTH CENTRAL 20

Aaron Langan scored three touchdowns, including sprints of a 75 and 47 yards, and the Prowlers continued their unbeaten season in winning the North Country Conference nightcap at PSS.

Langan had 167 yards on 11 carries, speeding away from the Central secondary on his long scoring runs, as second-ranked Thief River Falls (6-0, 5-0) took sole possession of the conference lead. He also scored on a 3-yard run and added a two-point conversion for a 20-point night.

But after this visit my vision of the dome is totally changed. The fans really get the excitement going before the game and they keep it up the whole game. I looked at my son while the music was jamming and the players were running on the field and he had a smile on his face, I could tell he really liked it. My view has totally changed and you the fans did it for me. I have been to the gophers games for unoficial visits and it is no where near as exciting, the recruits are ushered off the field before the players come out for the game so they dont get the game day feel that the bison provided for thier recruits. Great job by coach Bohl and staff, and you the fans.
    Very cool!

I think this Langan kid can make it on this team somewhere and hopefully the Bison can give him a look, Thief River Falls, MN is a class AAA school so they play at a higher level than EGF where Mertens played at.

Nick Mertens led EGF to the 2004 AAA State Championship going 14-0, so same level as TRF.

Ethan Magstadt, Maple Grove, MN, his family is from Bismarck. His uncle, who still lives in Bismarck, says the Bison have a chance of getting him. He's also a smart kid, so some of the Ivy schools have been hitting him pretty hard, as well as the Goph's. From what I hear he's a tough kid who will help the running game in the future with his blocking and running.

    Scouts Grade: 62
    Position Rank: FB #56
    Considering: 1-Minnesota

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Evaluation: Magstadt shows promise and quality skill at the fullback position. He possesses an athletic, well-built frame that allows him to remain versatile as a runner and blocker. He is best running down hill, taking the quick hitter north-south with good body lean. He does a nice job following his blocks through traffic and taking what the defense gives him. Magstadt will pick up the tough yards and flashes adequate straight-line speed and short-area burst. He has adequate blocking ability, can seal off the edge on the sprint pass and will step up to stalemate linebackers on isolation run plays. While solid as a lead blocker, he struggles with his effectiveness. He lacks the bulk, strength and leverage to knock bigger defenders off the run lane. He has limited power in his hips when attacking and often takes the hit instead of delivering it. At times, he runs a bit east-west and does not possess the lateral quickness and vision to be effective. Hhis running ability is limited without an open vertical seam. We have concerns that his lack of size and explosiveness will hurt his ability as a runner and blocker at the next level. Magstadt still has a lot of physical developing to do which could dictate his ability to play at the next level.

Notes: No notes available at this time.

Sounds like a great recruit, even though we are loaded in the backfield.

Note: His team is playing on FSN Thursday night.
I didn't know he was living with a friend of mine until his soccer coach called me today. Been friends over 10 years, probably had lunch with him at work over 1000 times. He's a St Cloud St grad, and we've gone back and forth over the years when the schools played each other in the old NCC. Now I have to watch what I say, sheesh.

PS: The article has his name wrong, Dana is his wife.

Greg Reid, a linebacker from Milwaukee King, 6-2, 250, gave WMU his verbal earlier this year but then they signed another linebacker and let him know that they might not have an opening for him come signing day. Unsurprisingly, Greg is looking around again. NDSU had previously offered him so maybe the offer is still available, maybe not.
