2008 NDSU Recruits

Some NDSU recruits were at the WIU game last saturday. They are allowed to watch the game, but NDSU cannot make any kind of contact with them while they were there.

Can we presume that you mean NDSU coaches? I am sure that a representative of NDSU does their tours and escourts the visit. I may be wrong however.

I think because it is an away game, that nobody from NDSU can have contact with the possible recruits.

Some of you remember the joke Bucky told about recruiting a wrestler. He said he had to buy the kid a new car and had to sleep with his mom to get him to come to NDSU. Turned out he was talking about getting his son to come to NDSU.

Thats right, the coaches can't talk to a student went they are away, but if they just happen to run into them say in the hall, and the student address them then they can chat with them.

Is this because a visit to an away game is considered "unofficial" and they are just showing up to watch the game?

There are unofficial visits to the games at home also, but I am pretty sure there is contact with the coaches, seeing how the players are on the sidelines prior to the game.

I'm guessing that contact is not allowed at away games, so as not to interfere with recruiting by the home team. Sounds fair to me.

Article on Minnesotapreps.com said that NDSU is recruiting Winona Cotter QB Thomas O'Brien, it said that he would be up here for the game this weekend, but that he is leaning towards SDSU right now, mostly because he has already been offered by them
