That's because most schools and definitely most FCS schools won't schedule contracts for two away games, much less for the price UND is getting. UND was desperate, more desperate than other programs like Weber. NDSU just took advantage of that.

UND should have changed their name a long time ago.
UND should have gone Division I right away.
UND should have been in the same conference with all the other Dakota schools.

If all that had happened, this would still be a yearly game. I agree that it's not presently in the best interest for NDSU to schedule a yearly game with UND OOC.

Hope UND loves the Big Sky. Maybe they can get a rivalry going with Northern Colorado? They don't have an instate rival either.

You pretty much nailed everything there.

Other than that, we need to get some winning under our belt before this rivalry is worth making annual. Or NDSU would have to go on a steady decline, but I don't see that happening anytime in the forseeable future. 4 consecutive championships tends to put a bit of stability in a program.
We don't compete with Weber for recruits.

UND should have joined the MVFC/Summit. They were just too damn arrogant to pass up the Big Sky and it has cost them dearly.

Edit: geez, I post too slow evidently, didn't mean to essentially repeat what B4L said.

From what I've read, the home & home with Weber was a little favor owed to Weber State, who did a home & home with NDSU back in '04 and '05, when the Bison were struggling to find opponents. I don't know if that's true or not, though...

Didn't someone predict Green Meadowlarks? I like it.

The Weber St series worked because of the 12 game season we went there. It still allowed us to play six home games each season. It also, JMO, was probably a last choice decision.

Potentially in a different Big Sky conference as I really don't see much of the MVFC programs in a position to step up their football programs.
Look at FCOA. I think many of those basketball teams in the MVC will go Pioneer before they'll go full funding. Same with the bottom half of the BSC.

Get rid of the Dayton rule, let those schools go DII or DIII in football and be done with it. We don't even have to wait for the P5/G5 split.

But it is not legit argument. See recruiting comments, see 12 game schedule comment. Community college fans just want to think it is a legit argument.

They did a home and home with us during the transition. As did several Southland schools (Northwest State, SFA, SHSU, and one other one.)

You're right, I should have said most legitimate argument. To your point, recruiting implications, etc. There was also a comment about a supposed favor owed to Weber, would could make some sense too. I meant the argument was valid, only in terms of the caliber of program, and it being a home and home, but clearly there are other factors.
