Default NDSU Recruit named Mr. Basketball, Part II

Luke Moorman from Dicksinon, an NDSU recruit, was named North Dakota's Mr. Basketball.

    Story Here

I think NDSU might get a Mr. Basketball Trifecta this year.

Dickinson High School post Luke Moormann has been chosen as the Gatorade high school boys basketball player of the year for North Dakota.

He succeeds Tyler Koenig of Fargo North, the 2002 and 2003 winner, and Adam Dobmeier of Fargo South, the 2001 winner.

Moormann, a 6-9 senior, averaged 20 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, two blocked shots and two steals for the Midgets, who went 14-8. Earlier, he was named North Dakota's Mr. Basketball. He has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at North Dakota State University.

"Lucas has been a great leader for our basketball team, not only because of his talent but because of his work ethic," Dickinson coach Dean Winczewski said.

Academically, Moormann maintains a 3.8 grade-point average and is a member of the National Honor Society. He is also a member of the DHS Spanish Club and competes in football and track.

The girls Gatorade honoree is Karla Beck of Munich. Beck, a 5-10 senior from Starkweather-Munich. She averaged 19.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.8 steals this season and carried a 3.7 grade-point average in the classroom. She plans to attend NDSU next fall.

I wonder if the Gatorade story was right about Karla Beck. I think the Herald reported that she was going to UND a while back.

The story came from the Bismarck Tribune.... I was wondering the same thing.

From a Jan 31st GF Herald article....
Beck, who recently went over the 1,500-point mark for her career, has given UND a verbal commitment to play there next season. In the meantime, she continues to make her mark on the prep level.
