Starting in 2008/09, if NDSU wins the conference tourney, the Bison will be dancin'.

Automatic bid for NIT if regular season conference champs.

So if they win the regular season in 07-08 and obviously can't go to the tournament, do they get an auto bid to the NIT as if they lost in the conference tourney??

The way they set it just this last NIT is that any regular season champ that does not get a bid to the NCAA tournament will get the NIT automatic bid. It has nothing to do with post season conference tournaments.

NDSU cannot participate in conference tournamen next season anyway but they are eligible to win the regular season championship.

If NDSU or SDSU won the Mid-Con regular season next year, could they still compete in the NIT? NCAA bought the NIT, so is it now an NCAA sponsored post-season event? If yes, then the Bison or Jacks would not be eligible next year. I don't know if this question has been officially answered.

Quick question for you Bison fans - Who in the conference has a strong team now? Meaning, when you guys are eligible who would be the teams that you really need to worry about being good? Just wondering as I will admit that I don't know as much about the Mid-Con in terms of basketball as you guys do.
