A former, 2 time All-American Wrestler for NDSU, Lance Koenig (1990-1994), was killed around midnight CST time today while working to clear land-mines near Tikrit Irag. Condolences to his family and friends.

God bless Lance and his family and friends. It is a tough job that everyone does over there, and unfortunately Lance has paid the ultimate price in the service of his country. My thoughts go out to him and his family.

I knew Lance well, wrestled with him in high school and attended NDSU at the same time as him. He was an outstanding wrestler and an even better person. He lived for his family and would do anything to help anyone. He unselfishly served his country and unfortunately paid with his life. He will be missed sorely by everyone that knew him. My prayers are with his family.
