Default 2025 Portal In: Alex Elliott

"The 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker announced Saturday, May 3 that he will transfer to NDSU after spending the last two seasons at the University of Minnesota. He’ll have three years of eligibility remaining."

He red shirted in 2023 and did not play in 2024.
You wanta play football, any school will do; ... You wanta learn football, NDSU is for you!

We got ourselves a good talent with 3 years left. Outstanding of high school he was the #6 ranked player in Minnesota in 2023, the year we got Beau Johnson, Keenan Wilson and Jack Liwienski who were in the top 25

Offers included Minnesota, Air Force, Kansas, Army, Navy, Illinois State, UNI, NIU, Ohio, Fordham and USD

We offered him as out of High school

Hutchinson is a powerhouse and this kid is a STUD. He was stuck behind some big ten talent at Minnesota. NDSU will be a place to shine

    Good job Grant Olson’n
NDSU TO FBS. HAVEN'T WE WON ENOUGH?

This accomplishes nothing, and may even be a huge mistake. Bison have seven, yes 7 freshman LB's coming in this summer and several are 3-star recruits. Bison also have 9, yes nine, LB's returning.
If I were a Bison already in the program this particular move would piss me off.
Nobody would question money, and/or a scholarship being given to an OT or interior DL, especially a grad transfer. I think they could do better than they have at addressing the DT issue. I hate this move. This is just an invitation for great young talent to leave.

After Kopp there's a lot of unknowns. May the best man win.

If they're afraid of competition, better to leave now or call Saul.

Coaches have been very complimentary of Staehling, Altepeter and Woolen so I'm not too worried about LB, unless of course the injury bug hits.

    Two words:

Woolen has the potential to be a superstar and with Sibomana out of the way, there will be no one to limit his plays. I like the kid transferring from the Goophers (is that in the Bisonville dictionary?), he'll push Staehling and Altepeter and make them better; iron toughens iron, or whatever that old saying is.

In the near term, this strengthens the position and the team. Having a loaded deck means even with injuries, the pieces are there to dominate.

I do wonder though if this will destroy whats left of loyalty on both sides. Can see guys like this coming in for a season or two and excelling, then back to the portal to grab a bigger payday elsewhere. The days of players staying for 3 or 4 years seems numbered. Which is a shame, because it is often their final years where full potential is realized. Alex seems like a stud, but I'm doubtful he will graduate and be drafted as a Bison.

Part of me thinks if he was so great why didn't he play at all last season?
It's OK to not be OK.
