The SD schools will not travel enmasse to MSP for this. Won't happen. Nowhere in my post did I say the world revolves around SF.

Well ya. That's because it revolves around you. Galileo said so.

BisonJD, you are bringing logic to an emotional discussion coupled with South Dakota derangement syndrome. It's not a fair fight.

This. I don't think fans of any school will travel en masse for the conference tourney.

Calling Sioux Falls “neutral” is similar to calling NDSU playing butler in football at target field “neutral”. It is well known that there are a lot of NDSU grads in the twins cities, and the 2019 football game was completely partisan in fan support for NDSU. Likewise, there are probably more sdsu grads is Sioux Falls than in Brookings. Having the tournament in Sioux Falls may be financially lucrative for the league, but hosting it there is obviously a competitive advantage for our main rival. In the long run, I don’t see how the league allowing them boosting their basketball program pedigree (their fan support is quite good in Sioux Falls in March) at the trade off of the league subsidizing members programs is good…in the long run. Departing coaches like Kampe and Paul mills said the same thing.

alternatively, I mentioned that having higher seeds host would also be crowd-packed games where the conference would have a lot of revenue. If folks are worried about TV contracts for the final, you just budget a little time in there for networks to adapt and travel. For example, quarterfinals are at higher seeds on Thursday, semi-finals are at higher seeds on Saturday, championship is home game for highest remaining seed the following Saturday. A week of travel scheduling in between the semis and the final seems to work for FCS playoffs.

I dont think anyone is really calling Sioux Falls neutral; two schools' fanbases receive a huge benefit. But it's an easy drive for NDSU, UND, St. Thomas, and Omaha to get to. It's manageable for UMKC to drive and Denver (guessing they will fly regardless).

If they wanted to do seeds host, it wouldn't be the end of the world. But the arenas likely wouldn't be full. When did NDSU last fill up the SHAC?

I agree with your comments about Sioux Falls. Works out great for the South Dakota schools to permanently have majority attendance and essentially a home game throughout the tournament. They don't deserve it and somehow all the other conference teams are supposed to accept it. In addition, for some reason Sioux Falls thinks they are a Mecca for college basketball just because they have the ugly Pentagon for the NSIC Tourney and the Denny for the Summit Tourney. Long past time to move this advantage away from Sioux Falls.

I would suspect that there are just as many sdsu graduates living in the Minnie/St. Paul metro area who would attend the SLT as there would be NDSU graduates. To think otherwise is disingenuous .

Can't we have a discussion without the fucking personal attacks?
