    Default Cfp

Just looking at the rankings, the CFP is going to stay pretty boring. The playoff is essentially going to be the Big Ten vs the SEC. Notre Dame will always get in. One PAC school will always get in. One ACC and one Big 12. The matchups in the playoffs that would be interesting are now already happening during the regular season (i.e., Texas-Georgia; Ohio State - Oregon).

Just think - Notre Dame will get in despite losing to NIU. Alabama will get in despite 2 losses including one to Vanderbilt.

They should amend the rules to say that all FBS undefeated conference champions will always make the CFP (whether as seeded or as at-large). That way Army wouldn't be left out, and other G5 champions will be included that have fantastic years but may would not otherwise be given the chance to prove themselves in the playoff. It would be more interesting to have an undefeated Army in the playoff instead of the 4th best Big Ten or SEC team.

I agree but the rules were structured so that doesnt happen.

I would love for Army to be in, but this is where Sagarin says NO WAY. NDSU is 55 and Army is 57. They are objectively the 55th best team in FBS.

Notre dame plays army still. If army goes undefeated they will probably get in.

Thats only likely if one or both of Army and Boise can get themselves ranked in top 12.

It could put the committee in a real pickle if Army does win out. I hope it happens to cause some chaos or at least public debate. Right now, its largely structured to only give the G6 one spot, and even that is considered a "gift" to be inclusive. Its a sham by the power conferences to control the money and keep themselves positioned above the G6. And to DePere's point, theres a good chance the PAC may lock up that 5th autobid for the G6 most years. The other conferences may be sidelined 8 out of 10 years.

The current CFP structure plus the enormous media contracts, and free agency of players are what give the power conferences unfair advantages. Its also why its almost certain you will see a B1G or SEC national champion. Becoming a long shot for even the ACC and B12 teams now.

Unfortunately everyone is so concerned the B1G and SEC will leave that they largely are calling the shots on all of this.

If Army goes undefeated this year they will have a great argument to be in as the G5 bid.

This is getting more and more ridiculous in their bias. Some quotes about it being about wins and losses, but why would Notre Dame be number 6 with a home loss to Northern Illinois. I guess they have to make the CFP every year. And no Big 12 teams in the top 10. So confusing to me.

Is it exciting to see an autobid from a pud conference in the FCS playoffs lose by 21 points while the a much better team finishing 5th in the MVFC or Big Sky is left out?
