As an aside, Georgia v Texas had 14.1 million viewers in basically the same time slot (7:30pm EDT start) on ABC according to Neilson ratings. To me, that makes those NDSU numbers look even better since just about every non-Bison/Bunny fan was otherwise occupied.
So between the Dakotas the population is estimated at 1,642,000. 176,000 is about 10% of the population watching just in the Dakotas. If it was only Dakota viewers for sake of argument. Now doing the same for North Texas and FAU is about a tenth of a percent. Granted them states have more schools. But still...And I understand that there are out of state viewers for both examples. Just using a hypothetical as a baseline.

Either way it looks better for us than the rest of the bums. If it were only Dakota viewers watching the game there was more viewers with less population. But since that is impossible, the data shows that we are more of a national product than the rest on that list.

This is a great comparison, fresno state was 3-1 with their only loss to michigan (who was ranked really high) vs undefeated unlv who had multiple p4 wins. This was a pac invitee mw conference clash of the titans.
Identical viewership. So when people say they invite schools based on media market just laugh in their face imo. Literally identical viewership. 174k to 174k.
Oklahoma vs auburn was the big game in their timeslot. It had 5 million viewers. The big game in ndsu's timeslot had over 13 million viewers. One could probably argue there were near zero casual viewers of the ndsu v sdsu game due to the texas georgia game.
By these metrics, if media market is what is fueling the pac decisions, ndsu/sdsu are equal choices to fresno and unlv who were both invited.

True but does FS1 have equal market penetration to ESPN2?
