Did not both have us as underdogs? And in a year we won the championship and beat them twice we still are behind them. I understand why and no system is perfect, but it’s a flaw worth pointing out.

No idea. Certainly not a major one. And NDSU got the benefit of playing both games at home (worth 3.29 rating points to Sagarin total).

NDSU beat SDSU twice, in nailbiters, at home. That's pretty consistent with Sagarin. NDSU isn't really behind in any meaningful sense.

Had NDSU beat SDSU by 2-3 scores in both games, i would kinda see why there is a "flaw", but that isn't what happened.

Under your logic, you’d be perfectly fine with SDSU getting the higher season rating and championship game nod over the Bison even after beating them. There’s a reason they stopped doing that in the FBS, and this is a good example of why.

Sagarin Predictor was never been used in whole or in part to determine BCS rankings. They refused any “computer” ranking that used margin of victory as a component. If I recall correctly he did build a separate ELO style algorithm for them that met their “sportsmanship” standards.

Yeah I do. And point taken. I just think it’s a flaw that you can beat a team twice on your way to the chip and still be ranked below them.

I get your point and that seems bonkers we're still #2. However, I'm not sure we beat the bunnies in Brookings this year. On a neutral field, it's probably a toss up.
