    Default 2024 Fall Camp

The 2024 Bison football season starts today as fall camp gets underway: https://x.com/NickGoeser/status/1817890718163062891

Excited to see the impact of the energy and fresh perspective that Polasek brings will be. Hoping to see a Bison defense that gets back to the assignment sound run stuffers they were when Grant Olson played with he and Goeser as the DCs. No excuses for the D-line to not be elite with the depth and experience they have. Need some new guys to step up at CB and need to see some good progression at LB with a bunch of returning experience.

On the offensive side how will things look different with new OC Jake Landry? Need to see some OL guys step up along returning starters Grey Zabel and Mason Miller and it sounds like there are plenty of candidates for that. Hoping to see a feature RB emerge and they can find a game changer at a position where they haven't had one in a few years (maybe Marty Brown???). Now is the time for one (or two) on the young WRs to step up with Zach Mathis and Eli Green moved on. Maybe that's Mehki Collins or Bryce Lance or Carson Hegerle or Tyler Terhark. Let's go!!!

Looking for some attitude from the o-line and getting back to a road grader mentality. Tackle better. Get the RBs some freaking carries!

Crosa put on 7 lbs of pure muscle so I'm looking for him to be a beast.

A few other notes regarding the roster.

Not listed on 2024 roster: Isaac Hyland, Reggie King, Alex Oechsner, AJ Heins, Trevor Fiecho. Maybe some of them portaled, but I can't remember. Josiah Azure retired, as mentioned in a separate thread.

    Kramer doing Kramer things:
    Jack Liewienski +18 lbs
    Beau Johnson +13 lbs
    Nate Schneckloth +21 lbs
    Crosa +7 lbs.

Keys for success this year imo:

Need to have a backbreaking passing game again (a wr that keeps safeties deep and TEs that can consistently get open on PA)
QB run game is a great change of pace, but can’t be the primary show in town. Let the RBs run and let the QBs quarter
Offensive line needs to play with tons of aggression. Very nervous with lack of size, experience and frankly proven talent outside Zabel
Front 7 2-deep on D going to be killers. Secondary going to be incredibly tested twice during the regular season and once in the playoffs. Otherwise will be serviceable.

Overall very curious to see how much of the last two years was a drop off in talent vs. coaching stuff. Could make the case for 8-4 or 12-0. A lot of that going to be on the Oline and secondary. And tackling

Don’t forget play calling. Word is Kevin didn’t get the call.

I’m not super worried about playcalling. Can’t get much worse than death by QB dive, IMO.

Even if it is at least I won’t have to listen to our OC get on the radio every Saturday morning and try to convince himself on air that running read option was the right thing to do every other play.
