National searches get good resumes but rarely coaches you have worked with a trust. Not only that, Polasek had always used elements of NIU and they worked together in the same system

Also national searches are less likely to find coaches who recruit ND, MN, WI and IL. That's our bread and butter. He also recruited Kansas City and St Louis.

Y'all know a "national search" is just a job posting and then interviewing the best candidates. It's not like NDSU is a Big 10 school and can pull mid-major head coaches to become the LB coach.
