I’d like to propose the following criteria for how a dynasty is started and ended using 2 guiding principles:
-Championship wins only count (not championship game appearances)
-at least 3 in at least half the opportunities (or years)
By this rationale, the smallest dynasty any team could accomplish is 3 championships in 6 years. This provides guidance on when the dynasty starts and ends (or when the opportunities to extend run out).
Therefore, since NDSU has won 9 championships in 13 opportunities (years), they have 5 more opportunities to extend their dynasty, if they don’t win another one by 2028, their dynasty ended in 2021…
Maybe that’s too long? Maybe it’s just a rule of 3, meaning you can’t go 3 years without winning one to continue the dynasty…?
I could go either way…
