do we have an ideal internal promotion to oc on staff currently?
Don’t know enough about the RB & OL coaches but do know each has prior OC experience at the DII level.

Fine. Let's do it that way again with an outside hire and a mentor. We cannot settle for the lackluster internal candidates.

They may be more important, but they might actually be easier. Fit plays a role as well. Not everyone is good at the same things. I'm not necessarily arguing for or against anyone in this post, just saying there are people on my team who's jobs I couldn't do well but they're not necessarily ready to do my job either.

We are still in the dynasty phase of the program. If you hire someone from the outside (especially someone that wasn't with the program during the dynasty) you risk the new coach thinking he can do it better doing it his way. Tyler Roehl is ready. Hire Rocky Hagar as an advisor if you think that is necessary, heck Bohl might do that too.

SDSU didn't start beating the Bison until they completely copied the NDSU program, offensive and defensive schemes.

If Roehl wants the job, it’s his based on what we’ve done in the past. If he doesn’t want it or doesn’t get it, he’ll leave.

That said, ndsubison1 nailed it—>Roehl will not stay if Vigen is hired, not for the long-run anyway, and there would likely be disruption/disagreement from within staff if Vigen is the hire, which would obviously be a negative.
If Vigen were hired hed probably bring over his current OC who coached with him at Wyo as well.
