I get this - I'm guessing that Entz likes to coach and being a position coach is all coaching rather than all the other stuff an HC has to do. Plus, USC is going to pay more.

He did a great job at NDSU and think that Roehl has been an awesome OC so I'm probably out of step with a lot of people.

I'm not ready for Roehl because of the point that TAILG8R points out. Coaching is all about connections and I'm not sure he has many. Sure, he probably knows people because of his stature at a premiere program, but he hasn't worked with people. Even young coaches like McVey/KOC, etc have deep connections in their short careers....not to mention history as innovators. If Roehl had one of those, I could maybe say okay, let 'er buck...but.

If you hire TR, bring Bohl back as a special assistant for two years to help him get settled. Otherwise who else does he have to rely on? Almost everyone that was here at some point, is much further along in their careers than being an FCS DC/OC.

I like the idea of Bohl being involved somehow. I think it’s unlikely but it sounds cool.

Obviously the landscape has changed since the last time we were in this position (with early signing period moved up and, more importantly, the advent of the portal and NIL.) Do we need continuity if Entz is gone immediately? Do the players vote to keep him here to see this through?

Yeah, but is he a CEO? CEOs bring in their own people...who are those? New coaching staffs have to move quickly, they don't have time to interview a whole staff.
